Maintenance and Cross-cutting courses

Working chainsaw - preferably with a slightly blunt chain, and slightly dirty

Tools to maintain and sharpen the saw

1 litre chainsaw fuel and some chain oil

Chainsaw safety gear - Helmet with visor and ear defenders, chainsaw gloves, chainsaw trousers and chainsaw boots

Personal first aid kit and whistle

Waterproofs

Packed lunch and drink

Basic felling courses

As above plus:

800mm felling lever

Small nylon wedge

5 litres of fuel and 2 litres chain oil per candidate for the week

At least one litre of water

Brushcutter/strimmer courses

One working brushcutter/strimmer between two candidates

Each machine to have correct harness

Each machine to have brushcutter blade and strimmer head

Each machine to have tools to maintain it

One litre of fuel per candidate

Safety gear for all candidates - Solid visor (or chainsaw visor plus safety specs), full coverage of clothing, gloves and steel toe-capped boots

Waterproofs

Packed lunch and drink

ATV/Quad bike courses

One working and correctly maintained quad bike between two candidates

Five litres of fuel per machine for the two days

Safety helmet and gloves

Full waterproofs

Waterproof boots

Very warm clothing (especially in the winter)
